The Baltic Contemporary Music Network commenced its operations four years ago in 2019. Currently, it is actively organizing the annual Baltic Music Days festival, engaging in music export projects, and introducing contemporary art music to new audiences. The upcoming Baltic Music Days festival is scheduled to take place from April 26th to May 5th in Tartu, Estonia, the European Capital of Culture, and will be hosted by Estonian Music Days.
We are thrilled to share the good news that our network project has received support from the Nordic Culture Point foundation, providing us with the opportunity to sustain and enhance our activities. This specific project is a collaboration with the BCMN network partners, including Gaudeamus, IMPULS-Festival, Göteborg Art Sounds, LENsemble / Lietuvos Ansamblių Tinklas, and OPEROMANIJA. We look forward to our cooperating with them next year.
Our objective is to bring together members of European contemporary art music networks such as BCMN, Fenoba, F. A. C. E. (Festival Alliance for Contemporary Music in Europe), along with other organizations to share best practices, plan joint activities, and discuss funding opportunities.
A heartfelt thank you to all our supporters, the Nordic Culture Point, and the Baltic Culture Fund, as well as to our friends who have kept us motivated and assisted in implementing our activities. The Baltic Contemporary Music Network operates as a cooperative effort involving three Baltic composers' unions: Lithuanian, latvian and Estonian Composers' Unions.
